About Interest Levels (IL) & Reading Levels (RL)     Interest Level of grade 5-up generally indicates books for more mature readers. Before recommending or reading aloud a book with an IL of grade 5-up to younger students, parents and teachers may want to preview the book for age-appropriateness. If a child wants to read 20 Bluebonnet books, but a particular book on this year’s list is too mature for them, the child may substitute a previous year’s Bluebonnet book of equivalent length.
